Construction Supervisor Quits 60k/Year Job to Make Comic Book About Slacker Superhero
Cleveland, OH (PRWeb) December 6, 2006 -- David Bloodsaw, a former construction supervisor, decided to change paths in life to follow a passion. He now is a publisher of a comic book titled Joony Tuff, which is about an underachieving, slacker superhero that fights crime for misguided reasons. "Joony Tuff turns the mantra of power and responsibility on its head," says Bloodsaw. "This young-slack-turned-superhero mistakenly believes with power comes money, hoochies, bling and fresh rides."
So how does somebody from the construction industry decide to start writing comic books? "Comic books have been a part of my life since I was young. That eventually turned into the desire to write comics. I've been trying to break in this industry on and off for years," states David. "Breaking into comics is very tough, especially as a writer. Sending out writing samples and trying to meet editors can be frustrating," continues David. Another successful route to get noticed is by self publishing, but historically that was costly. Fortunately, recent printing technology advances has made it possible for small publishers like David to produce high quality professional comic books.
The debut issue of Joony Tuff is now complete. It's not the typical superhero tale. Bloodsaw subverts the superhero genre by eliminating the "typical superhero fanfare" and replaces it with an exciting, edgy take on the world. Described by Bloodsaw as "Chris Rock on paper," Joony Tuff will combine multiple subplots to create its satirical view of the world.
David states, "The end all goal is to get noticed. I want to get the name Joony Tuff out there to the comic book world and just people who want to read a good story. Oh yeah…and stay out of construction permanently."
